Hagit Kirshner - Shalom

Therapeutic Play Coordinator

Hagit graduated from Tel-Aviv University, Israel (2007) with a Master Degree in Cognitive Psychology and a Bachelor of Art in Behavioral Science (2003). She expanded her knowledge and skill-set in expressive therapy through a postgraduate Certification in Therapeutic Play Skills from Play Therapy International (PTI) through College of Allied Educators in Singapore. Hagit is working to further enhance her professional skills to work creatively with children as a play therapist by completing the level one training in Theraplay (2017), which allows her to work therapeutically with parents and children together.

Since the completion of her training in Therapeutic Play Skills, Hagit has been working with children at HeadStart for Life, as well as in a local primary school. She works therapeutically with children in both individual and group settings. She also provides workshops and one-on-one sessions to parents, caregivers and teachers, who may want to know more about Play Therapy. Hagit has experience in helping children, both typical and atypical, manage their emotional, behavioural and social difficulties.

Prior to her trainings, Hagit worked as a Human Resource manager in high-tech companies for 8 years and her focus was on employee soft skills, recruiting, mentoring and solving conflicts by using her counseling skills. During this period, she also volunteered as a Life Coach at American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and a social facilitator in a mental health hospital.

Hagit is an advocate of play and expressive arts as children’s natural medium of communication. She believes in a holistic approach, thus she encourages parents’ involvement as an important part of therapy. Hagit enjoys facilitating and assisting children in their journey to express themselves, finding their inner strength and empowering them to fulfill their potential through therapeutic play.

Hagit is fluent in English and Hebrew.
