Usha, holds a Masters in Computer Application from Annamalai University, India and has obtained Diploma in Learning Disorder Management and Child Psychology from the College of Allied Educators, Singapore in 2013. She also completed an Advanced Diploma in Special Education in 2015.

Her profound passion in working with children with special needs encouraged her to volunteer with several institutions in Singapore such as MINDS MYG (Movement of the Intellectually Disabled in Singapore), where she participated in a group Basic Knowledge Training Group (BKTG) for adults (PWID). She also volunteered in APSN Katong School. Usha joined HeadStart for Life showing her determination in being a part of the children’s learning journey. She has attended a number of workshops and trainings on Dance Movement Therapy and Understanding Behaviour Management.

Usha truly believes that effective communication among parents, school and the centre will benefit the child wholly from intervention, eventually making a difference in the child’s life. She uses Differentiated Teaching approach to inculcate numeracy and literacy skills to enable the children to keep in par with their peers when they begin their formal education. Simultaneously she equips them with skills necessary to function in a school environment, and home while rendering the lessons.

She is fluent in English and Tamil.
