Mandy Chia

Principal Speech Therapist

Mandy has extensive experience in adult swallowing and communication management across acute care, community hospital settings, and outpatient clinics. She has a special interest in working with patients with dysphagia, including those with complex conditions such as tracheostomy dependence and head and neck cancer.

Trained in Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), she is dedicated to providing evidence-based interventions to enhance patient outcomes and quality of life.

Mandy believes in a holistic approach to therapy, recognizing that effective communication and functional swallowing are integral to a person’s overall well-being. She emphasizes patient-centered care and joint goal setting, tailoring therapy to each individual’s unique needs and priorities. Mandy is a strong advocate for family involvement, working closely with caregivers to provide education and support, ensuring continuity of care outside of clinic sessions.

Beyond clinical practice, Mandy is passionate about education, training, and mentorship, having led multiple teams and contributed to professional development initiatives. She thrives in multidisciplinary environments, collaborating closely with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.

Mandy was awarded the Ministry of Health Holdings (MOHH) Health Science Scholarship to pursue a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) at the University of Queensland. She continues to pursue ongoing professional development to stay at the forefront of speech pathology advancements.

Outside of work, Mandy enjoys practicing yoga, traveling, and exploring different coffee cultures around the world.
