Ng Jia Yue
Senior Speech Therapist
Jia Yue obtained her Master of Science in Speech and Language Pathology from the National University of Singapore and has been working in paediatric settings since her graduation in 2014. As part of her graduate training, she obtained clinical experience working with children and adults at a school for children with special needs and restructured hospitals. Prior to her master degree, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Honours) from the Australian National University.
Her previous work experience included working as an EQ coach providing social and emotional learning classes for 3 to 10 year old children, during which she was certified as an EQ educator by 6 Seconds. She presented her research poster on “The Relationship between Language Dominance and Fear of Negative Evaluation (FNE) in Bilingual Adults” at the Speech Pathology Australia 2015 Conference, which provides preliminary normative data for clinicians to assess bilingual adults who stutter. A firm believer in the importance of continuous professional training, Jia Yue continues to develop her professional skills over the years. She is certified in the It Takes Two To Talk program and the Target Word program by Hanen Centre.
In addition, she also received training in the PROMPT technique, the Nuffield Dyspraxia Program, the Learn to Play Program for Children with Autism and Trauma, the Lindamood-Bell Visualising and Verbalising Program, the Lindamood-Bell Talkies Program, Colourful Semantics, the “Learn it today, Use it tomorrow! Practical Cutting Edge Interventions for Improving Executive Function Skills in Students” Foundations and Master Class by Sarah Ward, Basic Singapore Sign Language, the Lidcombe Program, the Talkabout Program by Alex Kelly and the Social Thinking approach by Michelle Garcia Winner. She also attended a seminar on Childhood Apraxia of Speech by Tricia McCabe.
She has a keen interest in working with children with special needs, particularly autism spectrum disorders, whose difficulties may include the areas of speech, language, and social skills. She believes that working in tandem with the child’s parents and other professionals will provide the best support for his/her development.
Jia Yue is fluent in English and Mandarin.
