Valerie Yek
Lead Early Intervention Teacher
Valerie graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Psychology which started her interest in working with children with special needs. After volunteering at a VWO EIPIC Centre, she joined the field fulltime as she believes that every child has a chance to overcome their difficulties and reach their fullest potential.
An advocate of strong and close partnerships with each child’s important keyholders (e.g., families and schools) for maximized learning, Val emphasized on frequent updates and strategies for parents to use at home as well as to collaborate with schools to further bridge the learning gap beyond the early intervention centres, home and school environment.
Understanding that every child is unique in their own special way, Val plans her sessions in a way that encourages independence while promoting curiosity and allowing children to take charge of their own learning in a safe and happy environment.
